Courts may impose sentences below mandatory minimums when sentencing minors convicted as adults and are prohibited from imposing life without parole

Courts may transfer a minor's sentencing to juvenile court if clear and convincing evidence shows the victim had previously committed a sex crime or human trafficking offense against the minor within 3 months before the offense

Transferred minors receive a juvenile disposition rather than adult sentencing
