Frederick County's Director of Human Resources is authorized to request State and national criminal history records checks for prospective or current county employees and volunteers

Applications require two complete sets of legible fingerprints on approved forms, plus payment of the Maryland criminal history access fee and FBI processing fee

Criminal history information obtained is confidential, may not be redisseminated, and may only be used for personnel-related purposes concerning the employee or volunteer

Individuals subject to a criminal history records check may contest the contents of the printed statement issued by the Central Repository under existing procedures

Frederick County's governing body must adopt guidelines to implement the law; effective October 1, 2025
