Parties to a guardianship proceeding for an alleged disabled person may request a stay of civil actions including evictions, foreclosures, wrongful detainer actions, sheriff's sales, and other property-related proceedings

Stays may remain in effect for a maximum of 90 days after filing the guardianship petition

Courts must lift the stay upon appointment of a temporary or permanent guardian or upon denial of the guardianship petition

Service of process for stayed actions must be made on the appointed guardian of the property rather than directly on the alleged disabled person

Takes effect October 1, 2025 and applies only to guardianship petitions filed on or after that date
