Developers of generative AI systems must publish documentation on their website detailing all training data and datasets by January 1, 2026, and before each subsequent release or substantial modification

Required disclosures include data sources/owners, number of data points, whether data is copyrighted or public domain, whether it contains personal information, and whether synthetic data was used

Applies to generative AI systems released on or after January 1, 2022 for public use in Maryland, whether free or paid

Exemptions include AI systems exclusively for hospital medical staff, physical safety, fraud detection, national airspace operations, and federal national security/military purposes

Effective date is October 1, 2025
