Maryland would ratify the federal Child Labor Amendment originally proposed by Congress in 1924 (U.S. House Joint Resolution 184), which would grant Congress power to limit, regulate, and prohibit labor of persons under 18 years of age

The amendment has been ratified by 28 states as of 1937 but requires 38 states (three-fourths) for adoption; 10 additional state ratifications are still needed

Maryland previously rejected ratification on March 18, 1927, and this resolution seeks to reverse that decision

The amendment remains valid for ratification because Congress set no time limit when proposing it in 1924

Copies of the resolution would be sent to the President, Vice President, U.S. Archivist, Maryland's Congressional delegation, and presiding officers of all state legislatures
