Beginning with the 2026 general election, all seven elected members of the Wicomico County Board of Education will be elected from individual councilmanic districts, eliminating the current system of five district members and two at-large members

Adds one nonvoting student member to the board who must be an 11th or 12th grade student in good standing, serving a one-year term beginning July 1, with the role of advising on student perspectives

Student member may only attend closed board sessions if invited by a majority vote of elected members, and is entitled only to expense reimbursement (not compensation)

Establishes compensation for elected board members: Chair receives at least $4,000 annually, Vice Chair and other members receive at least $3,700 annually, with the Wicomico County Council able to set higher salaries

Elected members are entitled to reimbursement for travel and other expenses as provided in the board's budget upon submitting vouchers
