Charter county councils may set property tax rates higher than charter limits by simple majority vote specifically to fund approved public safety budgets

Excess property tax revenues collected under this authority must be appropriated entirely to the public safety budget, not other purposes

Creates an exception to existing law that previously required all excess property tax revenues above charter limits to go to county boards of education

Counties using this authority may not reduce funding to the county board of education from other local revenue sources below current budget levels

Takes effect June 1, 2025, applicable to taxable years beginning after June 30, 2025
