Prince George's County would be required (instead of permitted) to grant property tax credits on personal property owned by grocery stores that complete new construction or substantial renovation in designated healthy food priority areas

Eligible grocery stores must have all major food departments (produce, meat, seafood, dairy, canned/packaged goods), derive more than 50% of sales from food, and dedicate more than 50% of floor space to food sales

The county must designate healthy food priority areas by local ordinance based on factors including availability of healthy foods, resident income levels, transportation needs, and public transit access

The county retains authority to set cumulative credit limits, additional eligibility requirements, and other program parameters by law

Effective June 1, 2025, applicable to taxable years beginning after June 30, 2025
