Governmental units employing firefighters must compute overtime pay based on hours exceeding 168 in a 28-day work period, including all regularly scheduled hours even when leave is used

Counties and municipalities must provide firefighters with written notice of pay rate, pay periods, and overtime rate at hiring and whenever pay changes, plus a statement of hours worked, gross earnings, and deductions each pay period

Firefighters or their union representatives may file grievances if employers fail to provide required payroll information or wages due

Damages for unpaid wages increase by 30% per pay period until resolved, capped at three times the amount owed

Takes effect October 1, 2025, and applies only prospectively without affecting existing collective bargaining agreements
