City of Salisbury fire and explosive investigators would receive the same authority as the State Fire Marshal, including powers to make warrantless arrests for felonies involving arson, explosives, and related crimes

Investigators must be full-time paid employees assigned to the Fire Marshal's Office, hold the rank of Deputy Fire Marshal or higher, and complete training certified by the Maryland Police Training and Standards Commission

Authority extends outside Salisbury city limits when participating in joint investigations with other law enforcement, rendering assistance to officers, acting at an officer's request, or during emergencies

The City of Salisbury Fire Chief may limit investigator authority through written policy
