Former members of the State Police Retirement System, Correctional Officers' Retirement System, or Law Enforcement Officers' Pension System who were members on or before June 30, 2011 and return to service in the same system retain their pre-2011 benefit requirements

Returning members must have separated for 4 years or less, or for qualifying military service with return within 1 year, or have earned minimum vesting eligibility

Members must not have withdrawn their accumulated contributions and must not have become a retiree to qualify for the grandfathered benefit structure

Effective July 1, 2025; approved by Governor Wes Moore on May 20, 2025
