County governing bodies may enter into payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT) agreements with broadband service providers for property located in the county and owned by the provider

Under a PILOT agreement, the broadband provider pays a negotiated annual amount to the county instead of standard county real and personal property taxes

All or a specified portion of the provider's real and personal property in the county becomes exempt from county property tax for the duration of the agreement

The law takes effect June 1, 2025, and applies to taxable years beginning after June 30, 2025
