Child care providers must complete training on identification, prevention, and reporting of child abuse within 6 months of initial employment and every 2 years thereafter.

Child care entities must certify annually to the Division of Early Childhood Development by July 1 (starting 2027) that all providers are in compliance with training requirements.

Providers who violate training requirements face corrective action plans, suspension or termination of employment, or suspension or revocation of their license.

Child care entities that violate compliance requirements are subject to suspension or revocation of their license or registration.

Existing providers employed as of July 1, 2026 must complete the required training by January 1, 2027.
