Maryland Department of Health prohibited from issuing or renewing youth camp certificates if any structures used to house campers are located in a flood hazard area

Prohibition also applies to accepting alternative accreditation (such as American Camping Association or Boy Scouts of America standards) for youth camps with camper housing in flood zones

Flood hazard area defined as areas subject to inundation from a 100-year flood event (1% chance of occurring in any given year)

Applies to youth camps serving 7 or more unrelated campers that provide primarily recreational activities

Effective October 1, 2026
