Schools must notify a child's parent, guardian, or caretaker when a mandated reporter files a report of suspected abuse or neglect occurring at a school or school-sponsored activity

Notification must be provided within 24 hours of the report being made

Parents, guardians, or caretakers who are themselves the subject of the abuse or neglect report are excluded from receiving notification

Amends the Human Services Article to create an exception to child abuse report confidentiality rules for this new parental notification requirement

Effective date: July 1, 2026
