Each institution of higher education and local school system in Maryland must designate a Title VI Coordinator to ensure compliance with Title VI of the federal Civil Rights Act of 1964

Title VI Coordinators must have expertise in Title VI law, promote equal access to programs and activities, provide training and educational resources, document and investigate complaints, and maintain records

Persons alleging discrimination under § 26-704 may file complaints with either the State Superintendent, the local school system's Title VI Coordinator, or both

Local school system coordinators must forward complaints to the State Superintendent in accordance with existing procedures
