Allegany County local detention center officers employed before and through the effective date must join the Correctional Officers' Retirement System if the county becomes a participating governmental unit

Officers transferring to the Correctional Officers' Retirement System receive eligibility and creditable service credit for their prior employment with Allegany County

Officers who join the Correctional Officers' Retirement System and receive service credit will no longer be members of the Employees' Pension System and forfeit all benefits from that system

Service credit transfers under this provision are exempt from the standard transfer rules in Title 37 of the State Personnel and Pensions Article
