Foreign Service members and their spouses who relocate to Maryland due to an assignment may practice under an out-of-state professional or occupational license for the duration of the assignment without obtaining a Maryland license

Eligible individuals must provide notification of their assignment, remain in good standing with their licensing authority, have actively used the license within the past 2 years, and comply with Maryland's continuing education and practice standards

Practice is limited to the same discipline and scope authorized by the out-of-state license; a Maryland license is only required if seeking to practice in a different discipline or expanded scope

The portability provision does not apply to professions covered by interstate compacts or the practice of law
