Increases the penalty for storing or leaving a loaded firearm where an unsupervised minor has access from a fine-only offense to up to 5 years imprisonment, a fine up to $1,000, or both

Applies when a person knew or should have known an unsupervised minor could access the loaded firearm

Exempts situations where the minor is supervised by someone 18 or older, the firearm was accessed through unlawful entry, a law enforcement officer has possession during official duties, or the minor holds a firearm and hunter safety certificate

Violations cannot be used as evidence of negligence or contributory negligence in civil trials involving property damage, personal injury, or death

Takes effect October 1, 2026
