Drug manufacturers and patient advocacy organizations that receive drug manufacturer funding must register with the Maryland Department of Health before conducting disease awareness campaigns in the state.

Registration requires disclosure of whether the manufacturer is developing, manufacturing, or marketing a drug or device for the medical condition featured in the campaign.

Campaign materials must include a disclosure statement identifying the specific drug or device being marketed when the campaign focuses on a condition for which the funder has a marketed product.

The Maryland Department of Health is directed to adopt regulations implementing these requirements.

Effective date: October 1, 2026.
