Transportation network companies (like Uber/Lyft) under contract with the Maryland Transit Administration to provide transit service to persons with disabilities are exempted from the standard criminal history records check and mandatory training course requirements that apply to other MTA contractors

These transportation network companies must instead conduct annual background screenings of each driver providing disability transit services, meeting the requirements already established under Public Utilities Article § 10-404(b)(2)

The existing background check requirements under § 10-404(b)(2) include a national criminal history records check, Sex Offender Registry search, National Sex Offender Public Website search, and driving history report

Updates statutory language throughout to replace "handicapped" and "disabled" with "persons with disabilities"
