Department of Natural Resources must suspend fishing privileges for persons who held a license the previous year but failed to renew: 1 month for first offense, 6 months for second offense, 1 year for third or subsequent offense

Suspended individuals may apply for a new license during the suspension period, but the license remains subject to any remaining suspension time

Department must provide oral or written notice of the violation and associated penalties to persons charged with fishing without a license who failed to renew

Provisions apply retroactively to anyone charged with fishing without a license on or after September 1, 2025

Act takes effect June 1, 2026
