Mandated reporters (health practitioners, police officers, educators, human service workers) who suspect child abuse may now also report suspected labor trafficking or sex trafficking to regional navigators when necessary to prevent serious harm to children

Reports to regional navigators may be made without the child's consent and even over the child's express objection

State's Attorneys and the Attorney General are authorized to investigate and prosecute human trafficking violations under the Criminal Law subtitle

When the Attorney General exercises this prosecutorial authority, they assume all powers and duties of a State's Attorney for investigating and prosecuting the violation
