Merchants who round up cash transaction totals to the nearest 5 cents must remit the difference (between the rounded price and original price) to the Maryland Comptroller

"Cash" is defined as U.S. coins and paper currency, excluding other paper instruments and gift cards

The requirement does not apply when customers expressly consent to rounding for donation purposes

Revenue collected from these remittances will be distributed to the State's General Fund
