Licensed firearms dealers must notify the Secretary of State Police within 24 hours of learning about a burglary, attempted burglary, robbery, or theft involving firearms or ammunition at their premises

Dealers must also report within 24 hours any compromise of required security features, including failure of video recording equipment, unauthorized entry prevention systems, burglary alarms, or physical barriers

Required security features for dealer premises include video surveillance inside and outside, physical barriers on exterior doors and windows (bars, security screens, commercial metal doors, or grates), and continuously monitored burglary alarms

Violations carry civil penalties up to $1,000, with license suspension for a second knowing/willful offense and license revocation for a third or subsequent offense

Notification requirements are separate from and in addition to any reports made to local law enforcement or the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
