MD HB30

Expands police-initiated towing regulations to include light-duty vehicles (10,000 pounds or less), in addition to existing medium-duty and heavy-duty categories

Requires the Department of State Police to establish approved rates for light-duty towing based on recommendations from the Committee on Rate Setting and Complaint Resolution

Caps light-duty towing rates at 80% of the maximum approved rates for medium-duty towing and recovery

Adds new duties for the Committee to examine and report on insurance matters related to out-of-state registered vehicles and cargo/debris cleanup costs

Takes effect October 1, 2026
