School resource officers are prohibited from engaging in sexual acts, sexual contact, or vaginal intercourse with any student enrolled in a school where they are assigned

Violation is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 3 years imprisonment, a fine up to $3,000, or both

Expands existing law that already prohibits law enforcement officers from sexual activity with victims, witnesses, suspects, persons requesting assistance, and individuals in custody

Unlike other categories in the statute, there is no exception for prior existing legal sexual relationships when the person is a student
