Applicants for optometry licensure and certain reinstatement applicants must pass all sections of each part of the licensure examination, clarifying existing requirements.

The State Board of Examiners in Optometry is no longer required to directly administer examinations to licensure applicants; instead, the Board will require passage of examinations.

The reexamination fee previously charged by the Board for applicants who fail and retake the exam is eliminated.

Optometry licensees may not be placed on inactive status for more than 6 consecutive years.

Effective date is July 1, 2026.
