Maryland Department of Health must conduct at least two unannounced on-site inspections of each certified recovery residence annually to verify compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements

Unannounced inspections are in addition to the existing on-site inspections conducted by the credentialing entity during the recertification process

Recovery residences found noncompliant must receive written notice of deficiencies and be given 1 month to correct the issues

Department may instruct the credentialing entity to revoke certification if a recovery residence fails to take corrective action after the 1-month remediation period
