Prohibits intentionally distributing personal identifying information or images of students in grades 6-12 or postsecondary institutions without express permission and with intent to harm or reckless disregard for risk of harm

Protected information includes name, address, phone number, Social Security number, date of birth, biometric data, financial account numbers, and school address

Exempts journalists reporting on public concerns, faculty engaged in academic activities, disclosures required by law or institutional policy, and reports to campus safety officials

Violation is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 1 year imprisonment, a fine up to $5,000, or both

Takes effect October 1, 2026
