Governor must annually proclaim May 5 as Missing and Murdered American Indian and Alaskan Native Women and Girls Awareness Day

Department of State Police must report to the General Assembly by December 1, 2026 on whether state and local law enforcement are sufficiently collecting data on violence against American Indian and Alaskan Native individuals

Report must include policy recommendations for improving data collection methods, improving coordination with federal law enforcement during investigations, and raising public awareness of violence against this population

Approximately 120,000 Maryland residents (2% of population) identify as American Indian and Alaskan Native according to the 2020 Census

Effective date: July 1, 2026
