Maryland would join the Interstate Podiatric Medical Licensure Compact, enabling podiatrists to obtain expedited licenses to practice in multiple member states through a streamlined application process

Eligible podiatrists must hold specialty certification, have a full unrestricted license, pass required national board examinations, complete an accredited residency, and have no criminal convictions or disciplinary actions

Establishes the Interstate Podiatric Medical Licensure Compact Commission as a governing body with one voting representative per member state, empowered to promulgate rules, collect fees, maintain a database of licensed podiatrists, and enforce compliance

Disciplinary action taken by any member state against a compact-licensed podiatrist automatically triggers license suspension or matching sanctions in all other member states where the podiatrist holds a license

The compact becomes effective when at least four states enact the legislation; Maryland's participation is contingent on four other states passing substantially similar laws, with an effective date of October 1, 2026
