Reserves one of the 13 regular seats on the Maryland State Board of Education for an educational support professional who is actively working in a public school as a noncertificated, nonsupervisory employee designated as part of a bargaining unit

The Governor shall appoint the educational support member, with Senate advice and consent, selecting the candidate who received the highest number of votes in an election conducted among educational support professionals statewide under Department of Education regulations

The Department must notify all eligible educational support professionals and their collective bargaining organizations of any vacancy for this seat on the State Board

The educational support member may attend and participate in executive sessions but may not vote on matters relating to appeals to the State Board under § 6–202 of the Education Article

The Act takes effect July 1, 2026
