Licensed certified midwives are added to the list of authorized prescribers who may enter into therapy management contracts with pharmacists, joining physicians, podiatrists, and advanced practice nurses.

Authorized prescribers are no longer required to submit prescriber-pharmacist agreements to their regulating health occupations board; only pharmacists must submit agreements to the Board of Pharmacy.

Pharmacists may now treat opioid use disorder using controlled dangerous substances if they register with the federal DEA and state Office of Controlled Substances Administration and complete required training.

Protocols authorizing controlled dangerous substances drug therapy must require pharmacists to check the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program before initiating or modifying such therapy.

Effective date: July 1, 2026.
