Service providers cannot charge or collect fees if the veteran dies before their claim is processed

Violations of disclosure requirements carry civil penalties up to $10,000 per violation plus a 1-year ban from offering veterans benefits services in Maryland; penalties collected go to the Maryland Veterans Trust Fund
