Exempts spouses and financially dependent children of state or local public safety employees who die in the line of duty from paying out-of-state or out-of-county tuition at Maryland public colleges and universities

Eligible public safety employees include career or volunteer firefighters, ambulance/rescue squad members, law enforcement officers, correctional officers, and Maryland National Guard members who were state residents at time of death

Tuition exemption applies regardless of the state or county where the spouse or child resides

Maryland Higher Education Commission must adopt regulations to implement the program

Takes effect July 1, 2026
