Expands Maryland Capitol Police jurisdiction from specific state buildings to statewide authority for investigating and enforcing criminal laws, parking laws, and motor vehicle laws

Increases the surrounding area jurisdiction from 1,000 feet to 2,000 feet around state-owned or state-leased buildings and grounds

Adds explicit authority for Maryland Capitol Police to protect public officials in addition to people and property

Requires notification to the Secretary of State Police reasonably in advance of investigations or enforcement actions, unless emergency or exigency exists

Requires post-investigation notification to local law enforcement agencies including chiefs of police, Baltimore City Police Commissioner and Sheriff, Maryland Transit Administration Police, and Department of Natural Resources Police
