Increases the penalty for storing or leaving a loaded firearm where an unsupervised minor has access from a fine-only offense to imprisonment up to 5 years, a fine up to $1,000, or both

Applies when a person knew or should have known that an unsupervised minor could access the loaded firearm

Exemptions include: access supervised by an adult 18+, access resulting from unlawful entry, firearms in possession of on-duty law enforcement officers, and minors with firearm/hunter safety certificates

Violations cannot be used as evidence of negligence or contributory negligence in civil trials, nor can they limit liability or diminish damage recovery

Takes effect October 1, 2026
