Security guard certifications will expire on the last day of the certification holder's birth month, replacing the current system where the Secretary of State Police sets expiration dates

The Secretary must send electronic renewal notices to certification holders at 90 days, 60 days, and 30 days before expiration, sent to the holder's last known email address

Late fees for certification renewal (previously $5 per day) are eliminated, though applicants with outstanding obligations under the subtitle still cannot be certified

Licensed security guard agencies and employers are no longer required to submit declarations to the Secretary regarding whether their certified guards still meet certification criteria
