Expands authorization for speed monitoring systems (speed cameras) in residential districts from only Anne Arundel, Montgomery, and Prince George's Counties to all Maryland jurisdictions statewide

Applies to residential districts with posted speed limits of 35 mph or less, where speed limits were established using generally accepted traffic engineering practices

Speed monitoring systems capture images of vehicles traveling at least 12 mph above the posted speed limit

Local jurisdictions must authorize use through local law enacted after reasonable notice and public hearing before deploying systems

Effective date: October 1, 2026
