Restricts storage, sale, or sharing of personal information collected through swiping; fraud prevention cases require deletion of personal information within 60 days

Limits what personal information can be stored or shared for fraud prevention and check services to only name, address, date of birth, and license/ID number

Restricts governmental entities to swiping IDs only when knowingly provided by the individual, confiscated, required for emergency assistance, or mandated by court order; exempts law enforcement acting in official duties

Violations constitute unfair, abusive, or deceptive trade practices under the Maryland Consumer Protection Act, subject to its penalties and enforcement provisions; effective October 1, 2026
