Maryland State Department of Education must make available a continuing professional development course on educator well-being and flourishing by July 1, 2027

Course must be available to all school personnel and administrators, offered through synchronous or asynchronous instruction at rates comparable to other professional development courses

Department may develop its own course, adapt a third-party course, or use an existing third-party course to meet the requirement

Course content must cover the eight dimensions of well-being identified by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA): social, environmental, physical, emotional, spiritual, occupational, intellectual, and financial well-being

Act takes effect July 1, 2026
