Transportation network companies (like Uber/Lyft) contracted with the Maryland Transit Administration to serve persons with disabilities are exempted from standard criminal history records check requirements through the Criminal Justice Information System Central Repository

These contracted transportation network companies are also exempted from the requirement that employees complete a disability accommodation training course developed by the State Department of Education and Department of Disabilities

In place of standard requirements, contracted transportation network companies must conduct annual background screenings of each driver providing disability transit services, meeting the existing Public Utilities Commission standards for TNC operators

Updates statutory language throughout to replace "handicapped" and "disabled" with "persons with disabilities"
