Cecil County Orphans' Court judges will receive annual salaries set by the County Council beginning in fiscal year 2027, with a minimum of $11,000 (increased from the previous fixed rate of $8,750)

The Chief Judge will receive additional compensation of at least $1,500 annually, as determined by the County Council

Each judge will receive a travel expense allowance of at least $1,500 annually, paid quarterly by the county, with the exact amount set by the County Council

New compensation rates apply only to judges beginning a new term of office after the effective date, in accordance with the Maryland Constitution, though judges appointed or elected to fill unexpired terms after the effective date are eligible

The act takes effect July 1, 2026
