Governor's annual salary would be set at $195,000 for year one, $202,000 for years two and three, and $210,000 for year four of the term beginning January 20, 2027

Lieutenant Governor's annual salary would be set at $175,000 for year one, $180,000 for years two and three, and $185,000 for year four

The seven-member Governor's Salary Commission, chaired by Bruce M. Plaxen, developed these recommendations in December 2025 based on cost of living changes, salary differentials with other state officials, and comparability with other states' governors

Under Article II, Section 21A of the Maryland Constitution, the General Assembly may amend the resolution to decrease (but not increase) the recommended salaries, and cannot reduce them below January 2026 levels

If the General Assembly fails to adopt a resolution within 50 calendar days of introduction, the Commission's recommended salaries automatically take effect
