Gun shops may hold lawfully possessed firearms for owners under written "firearm hold agreements" for voluntary safekeeping, with required contact to the owner every 6 months

Gun shops are granted immunity from liability when returning firearms to owners at the termination of hold agreements, except for otherwise unlawful conduct

No legal action may be brought against any person for refusing to enter into a firearm hold agreement

Department of Public Safety must create a standardized firearm hold agreement form by January 1, 2026, which must designate an immediate family member or other lawful individual to receive the firearm if the owner dies during the agreement period
