Licensed architects in Maine must complete a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education annually in health, safety, and welfare topics beginning July 1, 2026, as a prerequisite for license renewal

Architects cannot repeat the same course for credit within a renewal cycle and must maintain and submit evidence of completed hours to the board

Newly licensed architects are exempt from the continuing education requirement for 2 years from their initial license date, provided they have not been previously licensed elsewhere for 2 or more years

Continuing education courses and programs must be submitted annually to the board for approval, along with required fees

Allocates $90,917 in FY2025-26 and $121,845 in FY2026-27 from Other Special Revenue Funds to the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation, including funding for one Office Specialist I position to administer the new requirements
