Child care facilities, family child care providers, and nursery schools must notify parents or legal guardians when the facility is under investigation for violating state laws governing facilities for children

Notification requirement applies to investigations under Title 22, Subtitle 6 chapters covering facilities for children and adults (chapters 1661, 1663, 1673, or 1675)

Facilities are not required to disclose the nature of the investigation or provide any personal information to parents

Failure to notify parents constitutes a civil violation with a maximum fine of $500 per incident

Creates new section 7708 in Title 22 of the Maine Revised Statutes
