Law enforcement reports on fatal railroad accidents and all communications between law enforcement and railroad employees involved would be excluded from public records during the investigation

Confidential records would remain accessible to the railroad company where the accident occurred, railroad companies whose employees are named in reports, and persons authorized by judicial order

Law enforcement agencies, district attorneys, and assistant district attorneys could access these records upon written or email request

The confidentiality exemption applies only during the active investigation period, not permanently

Amends Maine's Freedom of Access Act (1 MRSA §402) by adding railroad fatality investigation records to the list of public records exemptions
