Maine Education Policy Research Institute must survey educators from all 16 counties on classroom technology use, safety policies, and compliance measures

Survey will examine average instruction time on school-issued devices by grade level, safeguards before introducing new technology, and policies on AI, gamification, social media blocking, advertising, and geolocation

Survey must also assess compliance with the Student Information Privacy Act, policies prohibiting AI use in grading and teacher evaluations, and instances of students bypassing internet restrictions

Report with recommendations and suggested legislation due to the Legislature's Education and Cultural Affairs Committee by December 1, 2026

Designated as emergency legislation to take effect immediately upon approval, allowing work to begin before the standard 90-day waiting period
